I'm a huge fan of the show Battlestar Galactica, and one of the things in it that is done particularly well (In my opinion) is the music.
I've recently acquired the soundtrack *ahem* and thought it had some beautiful moments. (it's also got the standard "we're just filling in dead air, use the string pad setting on your casio" moments as well.)
The first is the opening. It has to be one of the most beautiful openings I have ever seen on TV.
I did a little research, and the text is from a Hindu raga:
oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥtát savitúr váreniyaṃbhárgo devásya dhīmahidhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyātOf which one translation could be:O earth, atmosphere, heaven:May we attain that excellent glory of Savitr the God:So may he stimulate our prayers. The second is an apartment scene with a movement from Philip Glass' Metamorphoses. It's fairly simple (as ol' Phil is wont to be) but very effective.

Hi Hankypants (sorry, that's how sarah always refers to you)
I agree, BSG rocks and the music is a huge part of its awesomness. Thanks for finding the opening's lyrics.
